Anti-Wrinkle aka (botox)

Anti-wrinkle injections contain botulinum toxin type A which is a naturally occurring substance produced by the bacteria clostridium botulinum.  It is the UKs most commonly used treatment to improve the appearance of wrinkles.  It works by relaxing the muscles responsible for creating forehead lines, frown lines and crow’s feet.  It is often used in combination with dermal fillers to produce a more youthful appearance.

After an initial consultation, Dr Booth will assess your suitability for the following treatments:

FAQ

What are the injections like?

Dr Booth uses the botulinum toxin to inject the muscles that cause wrinkles using a very fine needle so discomfort is minimal.

How long does it take to work?

It can take up to 2 – 3 days for the effects to be visible.  The maximal effect is after approximately 2 weeks and can last up to 3 – 4 months.                                        Dr Booth will review after 2 weeks to check your response. Adjustments can be made at this time if needed.

Will I look natural?

Dr Booth uses the quantity of botulinum toxin (measured in units) to create a natural look.  This means there is still some movement in the face which looks less artificial.  Of course everyone’s requirements are different which is why we always review results after 2 weeks.

What type of product is used?

Dr Booth uses a more purified form of the botulinum type A toxin which has fewer proteins.  This means it causes less stimulation of the immune system and less antibody production.  The overall effect of this means that clients remain responsive to repeated treatments over a longer period of time.                                     There are 4 common types in use; Botox®, Xeomin®, Myobloc® and Dysport®.

Can it treat depression?

By reducing the ability of the face to show negative emotions people find they feel less sad.  This is known a facial feedback which Dr Booth can explain in more detail at your request.
